Won't playback MP3 on iPod 3G
(1/1)
oivindi:
I've just installed Rockbox on my ageing iPod 3G, but while everything else seems to work fine (I can change settings, themes etc. etc.), when I try to playback any of the MP3 files I've put in a "Music" folder that resides on the root, Rockbox just says "Loading..." and then nothing more happens.
I cannot go back, so, it seems, the Rockbox freezes. I have to reboot to get it started again.
Any idea what's going on?
Llorean:
You'll notice that the iPod 3G isn't listed as one of the supported models on the front page of the site.
While there is a build for it, it is known to have many odd problems.

Ok, thanks.
(wouldn't it be better to just keep the build off the site, and perhaps for developers only? Since it's not working, I mean?)
Llorean:
It's not on the front page of the site, in the supported list.
The current build page is used by developers to see when changes break other builds (developers can't test every possible build every time they make a change, it would take far too long).
In fact, technically speaking, the only "Release" versions of Rockbox have been for the Archoses. It's entirely "Use at your own risk" as stated in the documentation.
Not to mention, as I said, the relevant info is on the front page.
Der Papst:
Hmm just tested on my 3G. Music plays back just fine. Though it's not the most recent rockbox (r13844).
Edit: Now i'm running r14025 and loading music fails as described above. It frezes showing the "Loading..." screen.
Edit2: r13845 is breaking loading music on 3G iPods. If you revert that change and recompile rockbox it works.
