rockbox last updated version ???

Hi all,
please not ban me for this stupid question, please.

I've bought from an english forum member a wonderful H340 already rockboxed.
I'm pretty basic user,
so i do only periodic upgrade of daily build from website.
Today my iriver says:
version r13990 dated 2007-07-26
THIS IS THE LAST VERSION of your wonderful sw
or there are other versions?
What does is 2.5 version?
The one I have is the last version available or my rockbox may be updated more?

Version 2.5 was released only for the Archos line of MP3 players. There still hasn't been an official release for the iriver DAPs yet.

You're as up to date as you can get for now, so go on and enjoy the music!

2.5 was for the old Archos units only.

Rockbox is usually updated several times a day - whenever recent svn activity on the front page changes.  To get the most recent build, follow the link on the left for current builds.

As for how often you should upgrade, it is up to you.  If you see a new feature or a bug fix, then upgrade.  I personally do often!

One thing to note - if you experience a bug, please please please update to the most recent build and test before reporting.

No it isn't, as I write this, the most recent version is R14001, some 11 versions newer than yours!

As noted above, usually changes to the code (many times a day) are smaller changes:  tightening of the code, elimination of unneeded code, changes affecting other players, etc.  Thus, you probably don't need or want to download the new code with each change (you could spend your entire life doing that).  But with a code development or bug fixes that enhance your listening experience, yes.

I have the firmware from a month ago and have been just fine and dandy with it (although I just dowloaded the most recent code, to get the advantage of developments since then).  Many people have firmware that's many months "old."

Something you may want to do:  check the opening page "Recent SVN activity" listing periodically (there is a link to developments over the past 4 weeks) and see if there is anything there that you now would like your player to have.  Of course, you also can visit the site daily, as many of us do, to check out developments as well.

No.  The daily build is updated once per day.  The current build (the one on build.rockbox.org) is updated on every source code change.

Further to what Febs has said, there is no advantage to a daily build over a current, as the daily build is just a current build made at a specific time each day.  Always go for the current build (the one on build.rockbox.org, and linked by current build on the left).

Hi all,
another question
(tell me if i have to open a new topic or not)

Now that I'm able to download current build for my iriver,
a consideration

May I delete all .rockbox directory from my iriver before uploading the current one
in order to be sure that I have only the "working necessary" in my iriver hard disk

or this deletion could be dangerous ?

You shouldn't ever need to delete the .rockbox folder, and you'll lose all saved settings, high scores, themes, etc if you do, but it's perfectly safe to beyond that.
