iRiver IHP100 issues:
« on: July 24, 2007, 04:23:49 PM »
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1.
It seems that LINE OUT jack is being amped, I keep having the same volume both in headphone jack and line out and I CAN CONTROL VOLUME in rockbox.
Am I right? I somewhat can't understand this.

2.
How PRECISE is Rockbox's EQ and / or Crosfeed?
Having set up EQ properly it should be digitally clear right?
(i.e. do nothing except for changing freq. response as intended)
Is the same true for crossfeed (being it just a crossfeed a'la one in Meiers)?
I think it should perform much better than a hardware network i.e. inside an amp because there are no limitations caused by non-perfect caps etc...

3.
How can I use OPTICAL OUT with a USB PORTABLE DAC?
Is there a convertor to do that?

THANK you for the advice!

Line out on the H100 is not actually a line-out unfortunately. Changes to the volume will affect it and I think changing the hardware bass/treble settings will also affect it. Changes made to the software equalizer will definitely be audible as they are done before any audio output.

With the equalizer what exactly do you mean by "how precise" and "digitally clear"? The equalizer does what it says it does, amplify/cut the given frequency with a given q.

No idea on the optical out question.

Yes, you are correct. Some clarification here: http://forums.rockbox.org/index.php?topic=6074.0

I'm not sure what you are trying to do here.

If you have a player with an optical out (H120, H140, not sure about H100/H115) and your external DAC has an optical in, then yes. No converter is required.

I'm struggling to think of what other digital input standard your DAC might have, but if it's not optical, then I guess you would need some sort of a converter. I don't know if anything is available, though...
