rockboy speed

xtremedrummer498:
I had an older build (I can't remember which one, something around July 8) on my Gigabeat, and Rockboy worked fine, only thing I noticed about it was that the speed of the game was faster than it should have been. Now I have a more recent build and games are playing slower than they are supposed to be. Is there any way to change the speed that a game plays?

kkurbjun:
Rockboy should be playing at the exact timing the games should run at on the Gigabeat (with the exception of some gameboy color games).  If you enable the stats it should show a constant 60 fps (assuming you have the max frameskip set to a reasonable number).  If the game was playing above 60 fps before and is now playing below 60 it is a problem and I would be interested to know what game is playing too slow.

This is all under the assumption that you have sound enabled.  If you have sound disabled or you are playing the game while music is playing then that is a different situation.  The timing will not be exact and the game should be running at a faster speed.

No matter what I do, it plays at a constant 60 fps. When I set the frameskip to 6 max, it plays too slow. When I set t to 0, it plays too fast. Rockboy is the only thing that I'm running.

kkurbjun:
What game does this happen?

Changing the frameskip should not make the game too fast.  The only time the speed should change is when you turn sound on or off.  Rockboy uses the sound output as a timer to make sure that the framerate is constant (at 60 fps).  When you turn sound off it will run as fast as the MP3 player hardware allows.

I would be interested to know what game you are referring to because all of the ones I regularly test with run at the proper speed.

Legend of Zelda, Link's Awakening, mostly. Occasionally Metroid :)

Also, it it's any help, the audio also speeds up and slows down.
