Re-enabling DRM [H300] [rock box will have to be removed unfortunately!]

This is good news if it works.  It means that DRM is not permanently disabled after you v flashed your player with rock box.

These following steps supposedly will reenable DRM playback on H300

I appreciate you contacting the iriver America Customer Support Team in regards to your subscription music files.  Addressing your concern, you may need to upgrade the security components of your player so you can play protected music files. You can get this upgrade at,

http://drmlicense.one.microsoft.com/Indivsite/en/indivit.asp

Format the device so that multiple root licenses are removed from the device.

Apply a hot fix so future syncs will not result in multiple root licenses being copied to the device.

So I need someone to test this out on a rock box player to see if it'll reenabled DRM playback. Backup your music first!!

Normally I would do this myself but I haven't install Rockbox yet because I use DRM. I want to know if it can be re-enabled. If it can I will get a rock....rocking my box. :P

I really could use some help here. I can't tell you how much I hate DRM and what it stands for, but I have to use it [school related]. I simply want to know if those steps above will reenable it?

GodEater:
To my knowledge - no-one has ever tried it - so you're kind of on your own here.

Llorean:
Just as a note, it's incredibly unlikely these directions will work.

What's damaged is in flash, and you can't access the flash from the computer, so any process to repair it would have to involve a h300.hex file and instructing the original firmware to do a firmware upgrade.

Febs:
I see that you just posted this same question at Mistic River, which is actually what I was going to suggest to you.  I suspect that not many of the people here at the Rockbox forums care much about whether the H300 supports DRM, and you're much more likely to find someone at Mistic River to test this.  Though I agree with Llorean that it's a long shot at best.
