Ipod video thirty gig installation problems.
(1/1)
callmecowboy:
This doesn't seem like a huge problem cause the ipod still worked but
The ipod won't load up the rockbox firmware...And i was wondering if anyone else has had problems with getting the rockbox firmware to start on the ipod video...is it like a current build problem...?
I installed it in the root directory and it would just keep going to the ipod firmware nto the rockbox. it wasn't on hold either...
Any help on this...?
Febs:
Did you use ipodpatcher to install the bootloader?
GodEater:
And if you did, did you perform a hard reset afterwards - because if you didn't - you're not properly restarting it - you're effectively just turning the screen off and leaving the apple firmware running.
callmecowboy:
No i just used the current build/zip thingy and then unzipped it to the root of the ipod like i did with mine and my other friends Video/80g
It worked on hers AND mine just unzipping the files to the root...
And if hard reset is the toggle hold switch then hold menu and select then i indeed hard resetted the ipod..

The bootloader needs to be installed. The firmware you unzipped to the root of your iPod can not be launched by an unmodified bootloader. This is where section 2.2.4 of the manual comes in handy.
If both your iPods worked w/o installing a bootloader...one must have been installed at an earlier point - but I'm starting to get confused in your reply.
On the reset issue, yes it sounds as if you are doing it correctly.
