sansa specific orientation issues

(1/1)

kensuguro:
hey, all.  I did a search on the orientation issue and found that upside down is the only supported feature, and is only available on certain hardware.

I use the sansa, and wanted to point out that sansa's LCDs are natively alighted to be viewed in landscape mode, and so somehow being able to switch to landscape would greatly decrease eyestrain.  Currently, viewing in portrait mode, you get different contrast levels in the left and right eye, causing lots of strain.  I'm not even sure why sandisk designed it like that in the first place...

But anyway, I just wanted to bring that to attention.

I am not too sure what you are trying to get at here. With the OF (Original Firmware) of the e200 series, everything is show in portrait mode with the exception of videos and landscape photos. This is exactly what Rockbox does.

I think he means natively lit. i.e., the backlight is oriented to make the screen easiest to read in landscape mode.

I'm guessing the reason is that 'landscape' screens were chosen is because they are cheaper  because the majority of devices use them in that orientation (excepting mobile phones, of course).
