ipod nano in a loop?
« on: July 18, 2007, 11:10:11 AM »
Ok so last night i plug in my ipod to charge over night.  So in the morning i unplug it and it reads please restore in itunes in like 3 different languages.  So im like Profanity removed im going away i don't have time for this so i  just use ipodpatcher to uninstall and now my ipod's in a loop.  First the apple logo comes up then it brights up then goes away then a second later it appears again dim and brights up and goes away.  It just doesn't stop and it's been doing it for 20 minutes.  I can't put it into disk mode because when i hold do menu and select  the screen goes blank and when i let go, the logo comes up and it just keeps doing the same thing again.   Oh and i can't restore because my computer doesn't recognize the ipod and i can't put it into disk mode.  Any help would be much appreciated.

It sounds like you're skipping the "Select + Play" portion of the disk mode steps entirely.

subLimee - how are you trying to put it into diskmode?  Are you following Apple's own instructions or something else?  Diskmode is not something rockbox has any control over, it's built into your ipod, by Apple.  And if it doesn't work for you you may want to check in with Apple technical support.

Here are Apple's instructions on how to put Apple ipod into diskmode

Yea i was skipping select + play part, thanks.  So now i can get my computer to recognize it so i took rockbox out of the ipod folder but  the problem is persisting.  I guess it's not a rockbox problem.

Now you know how to get into disk mode - do that, and then use iTunes to do a restore on it.
