Can title/artist info in playlist cause a freeze?

(1/2) > >>

art.in.memphis:
I have an HP 30gig iPod that freezes at random times.  Is it possible that my playlist is causing a freeze because the titles are too long or have illegal characters?  I get the same error when it freezes.  "Undetermined @ 0005D6C."

I have about 3500 songs loaded and I put it on shuffle and sooner than later it will ab-end. Most of the songs were ripped from my CDs with SoundJuicer (GNU/Linux) and then there are some iTunes albums (winXP) that I purchased long ago.

Cheers.

Llorean:
Could you please type the error message exactly as it's written?

Also, what generation iPod is that? Are the HPs 4th Generation? Which SVN version and bootloader version are you running?

As well we ask you not to use the term "brick" unless your device is actually bricked (in a permanent sense).

art.in.memphis:
Thank you.

Error as it is written is:

Model #MP7001 HP iPod Photo 30 Gig is 4th generation.

- - - - -

Sorry about the wrong terminology.  I edited the offending word. I understand what you are saying about that.
When the battery runs out the iPod is useable again.

I have not been happy with it since I bought it and it has been in a drawer for the last year or more.  I read about this Project and when the iPod works under Rockbox I am a happy camper.

Thank you very much for all the work you are doing here.

Llorean:
If you'll notice, third generation iPods aren't listed as supported on the front page of the site. The lack of reliability is to be expected until people who own them do further work on them.

GodEater:
It's not a 3rd Gen Llorean - it's a 4th gen - I just googled on the model number.
