Explanation of "Shuffle" mode

(1/1)

mpeill:
Hoping this is the right forum...
I'm rather confused as to how to set up the shuffle mode during playback.
Under playback settings there is a shuffle mode selection, but there is also a shuffle mode below the repeat function as well. The manual seems rather unclear (to me).
What I need is an idiots guide to how these inter-relate.
Also, can the shuffle mode be restricted to specific directories and subdirectories only, or is it necessary to create a specific playlist to do that.

Lear:
Repeat Shuffle works like this: when Rockbox has played through the current playlist and is about to start over, the playlist will be (re-)shuffled.

If "ordinary" Shuffle is enabled, the shuffling will be done when starting to play the list.

Shuffle always work on the whole playlist.

mpeill:
Ah, now I understand...easy once you know, thanks for that.

Zack:
hmm, just to clearify it:

It's not possible that the playlist isn't shuffled, but next song jumps e.g. from title 4 to 23?
(like the normal shuffle mode in winamp or xmms) ???
I often shuffle through a list, then find a good song and want to here more of them (by turning off shuffle). I think this isn't possible now, right?

Llorean:
If you use "Shuffle" then yes, it's possible. If you use "Repeat Shuffle" so that the list is shuffled on repeat, or "Insert Shuffled", in both cases there's no ability to unshuffle.
