"*PANIC* Stkov main" error with mpegplayer on H300

Hi. I'm trying to figure out what's going on here. Probably something obvious I've overlooked.

When I try to play Elephant's Dream (or one of my own mpegs) the screen immediately goes black and gives the error "*PANIC* Stkov main". I saw this problem in the forum on June 19th so I've tried suggested remedies: moved the .rockbox directory for a completely fresh install and created an empty text file at rocks/mpegplayer.cfg, but still get the error. What am I missing?

Any help appreciated. Thanks.

bootloader v5
build r13863-070712

Thanks, at least, to everyone who's taken the time to look at my original posting. Probably isn't something obvious then. Still baffled!

The player is working fine otherwise, music and images. Last used it for video about a year ago, just thought I would give it another go. Hmph. I'll have to wait til I get the feng shui in this room sorted out then.

Big thanks for rockbox., 's truly brilliant. I'm in awe guys.

GodEater:
I think this is a known bug with mpegplayer that no-one's quashed yet.

It's caused when you use a new install of rockbox that hasn't run mpegplayer before. When mpegplayer first runs it attempts to read a config file from .rockbox/rocks called mpegplayer.cfg - if this file does not exist, it attempts to create it. It's the "create" process which causes the stkov. If you create the file manually then mpegplayer *should* run ok.

Thanks for the extra detail on exactly what causes the stkov, GodEater..

and that's where it breaks down - the empty text file is there at /.rockbox/rocks/mpegplayer.cfg, but still I'm getting the stkov!

Apologies for giving you a solution which doesn't appear to work. I'm not a big MpegPlayerPlugin user myself - so I've not come across the issue personally.

Try this then, create the file with the following content :

fileversion:1
ShowFPS:No
LimitFPS:Yes
Skipframes:Yes
