Sansa keeps panicking over nothing?
« on: July 13, 2007, 11:12:56 AM »
Hi,

I've been using Rockbox for 3 days now and so far, ive had to use a screwdriver to rip out its battery as many times. Luckily, there is some consistency to the error messages, so I'm hoping it can be helped. The message is always of the form:

*PANIC*
Error SDCard:
with the integer number so far being 5,6 and 8.
So, I've found that it has to do with the sdcard (whoa that was hard), and perhaps the fact that I don't own one:p
Any idea how to prevent this? perhaps I can remove the SDCard service in some way? I don't have much coding experience in these things so a clearcut solution would be nice.
Oh and I don't have access to a microSD card.

thanks for any replies,

NaFiann

What build are you using?

Go to System --> Version and report what version number is listed.

It says: ver. -070711

That is from the unsupported build from cpchan, which I installed because I had these problems:P
(I had one crash on this build)
The other crashes were on the daily build of 070710 most probably.

Update to the current OFFICIAL build.  There were bug fixes made to the Sansa as recently as yesterday evening.  I don't know whether those changes will affect your specific problem, but testing with the most recent build is always the best place to start when troubleshooting a Rockbox problem.

And please, do not start threads on these forums regarding unofficial builds.  If you have a question about an unofficial build, ask it in the thread for that build.

Thanks for the replies, I'll try the latest official build.
In my defense, I posted it here, because it occurred on the official build as well.
But I'll try to post in the right forum next time.

Yes, the freezing problem should be fixed in the current build:

r13862 | jethead71 | 2007-07-12 02:50:42 -0400 (Thu, 12 Jul 2007) | 1 line

e200: This should stop lockups on sansa with struck SD card insert detection. Hopefully no new troubles will rear up.

You might also want to try one of my unofficial custom builds here:

...ive had to use a screwdriver to rip out its battery as many times.
Just wanted to add for further reference that you don't have to open your player and disconnect the battery if rockbox hangs. On the sansa you can perform a hard power-off by holding the power button for at least 15 seconds which should always work.
