New Rockboxer w/ Gigabeat concering Album Art
« on: July 13, 2007, 11:01:54 AM »
I've been reading in the forum that Rockbox does not support jpeg format album art.  The gigabeat will display jpeg pictures.  Has there been changes (maybe a plugin) that will allow jpeg album art to be viewed in playback.

On a seperate note, I haven't found anything in the manual about importing mp3s.  I know Rockbox won't play sat files so I copied the mp3s from my computer to the Gigabeat.  Is that the "approved" method?

Rockbox does not officially support any album art.  There is an unofficial patch that allows bitmap album art to be displayed on the WPS.  Rockbox does have a .jpg view, so you can always open album art .jpg files manually.

Yes, that's the idea. I wouldn't go so far as to give dragging and dropping the prominent title of "approved," but yes, simply put the music in a folder that you can find in the root, and either use the Database to read the tags to build a directory listing, or use the File Browser should you have your own preferred organization.

Umm... Paint?

I'm assuming that you genuinely don't know that Windows can natively convert lots of files between different formats.

Right-click the JPEG, choose Open With > Paint
Once opened in Paint, do File > Save As...
Choose 24-bit Bitmap in the 'Save as type' drop-down box

If you wanted to batch convert, then probably IrfanView is your best bet. However I'm sure that if you Googled for 'JPG BMP converter', you'd find a million others...
