Database Issues
« on: July 13, 2007, 08:39:43 AM »
Ive been working with this for a few days now.

1. Installed Rockbox on my Toshiba F40, all sweet
2. Tried copying 4 albums, init database, all sweet
3. Tried Copying 5000 Songs, init database, initialized, said to reboot.
4. After reboot the "database config 1/8"etc crashes to main menu on 1/8
5. try to access database "Database not ready, Initialize Yes/No."Select Yes and it just doest do anything. 0 files found Power to exit.
6. Ok so ill try adding 50-60 songs at a time. Initialization of database with 50 songs, OK. subsequent addition of songs by using Update Now option working sweet.
7. NOW i have 300 or so songs. but when i go into the actual database and then say Album Arist i get teh following listing
Va
Vario
Various A
Various Artis
Various Artist
Various Artists

drilling down into these reveals different songs off the same album

another example is the following under Album

Fingerprints: Th
Fingerprints: The Best
Fingerprints: The Best of
Fingerprints: The Best of Powder
Fingerprints: The Best of Powderfinger

again, each "Unique Album" contains different songs from exaclty the same album.

I have looked into the ID3 tags on all involved and not one of them looks wrong

the database option is unusable in this way.

is there a program that i can edit the database from the pc and put it back? or is it generated on-the-fly so to speak from the local songs?

Any suggestions?

I would try deleting the database files on the /.rockbox directory and then re-initializing the database.

In case anyone runs into this problem again I just tried the solution and the cause was indeed that Rockbox need the files to be transferred to the Sansa C Series in MSC mode, otherwise RB does not see them.
