H140 freezes when starting (was: Need Some advice ..)

LambdaCalculus:
Let me try to help you out:

Version 6 is the current official bootloader version. There's a Version 7 that's used to flash Rockbox to the H1x0 models, but it's unofficial.

Can you be a little more clear about "upgrade"? Do you mean installing a patched firmware, or updating Rockbox itself?

I had a small problem when a friend of mine got his iriver H120. It did keep on freezing at certain points in the original firmware, but I managed to finally get it to work by plugging it into a charger, then flashing the patched firmware to it.

The batteries are rather easy to replace in the iriver H120. A quick search on Google should turn up a site that sells replacements. Or try eBay.

The root folder is the "top level" folder. If you're using Windows, this would be, for example, C:\. Think of your files and folders as branches on a tree: start at the bottom of the tree (the root), then make your way up and around.

Davey:
With upgrade i mean patched firmware and updating Rockbox.
If i dowloade it in mine root folder,
and i disconect from my pc and then you need to go in your player to do the updat, right?
but i only get the boot loader screen and thats it.
And no menu for finishing the update.

My english is a bit messy.

LambdaCalculus:
So if I'm not mistaken, you're just trying to update the Rockbox build itself, right? You obviously have installed the bootloader.

But it sounds like it's freezing on you when it starts up. For the sake of clarity, this has happened before, right?

And updating the build is as simple as downloading a new build and extracting it to the player. There's no menu for updating.

Hmmm... I'd better look into this a bit further. Not unless anyone else has a good idea of what's going on...

Davey:
I'am i litle bit furder now. This is what i see now in start up:

Rockbox boot loader
Version 6
Batt: 4,24V
Loading firmware
Lenght: 55B18
Checksum: 19DB4E7
Model name: h120
Sum: 1953A16
Result: -5

First it was:

Rockbox boot loader
Version 6
Batt: 4,24V

The only thing i did is format it with SwissKife to fat 32.
Is that good or bad?

Davey:
Woohoo,

I don't now how bud it's working now  ;D ;D ;D

Maybee it needs fat32
