(Suggestion): Songbird

(1/1)

Enmar:
Well its been a while since I have messed around with rockbox or actually used my ipod or posted on this site... but an idea just popped into my head:

Could songbird be used to sync songs to rockbox and write the proper database file via an extension it can do that look at the page it wants to be the Firefox of media players. Give it some thought though it may not be all that necessary because apparently people like rockbox for its drag and drop feature.

An another idea came to me that is not quite as practical but here it is anyway:  :-\
Songbird "may" be able to update your rockbox firmware at user defined or automatic intervals maybe even allow you to make custom builds.

Don't shoot me down right away give it some thought.  ;D

P.S. Sorry if my sig offends anyone.  :P

You should be able to do that already (or shortly if you don't use Windows). Set Rockbox to "Auto-Update" and use this:

Get that Windows clone out of my slight!  ;)

Yes, I do find your sig offensive, as it's far larger than one might consider polite for a forum.

As for your suggestion, it should be directed to the songbird team, as it's a feature request for something they should add to their firmware. Ignoring the fact that feature requests don't belong in the forums in the first place, that is.

Both the database generation code (tagcache.c/h I believe) and any code relevant to installing/updating Rockbox (the rbutil folder in the source) are in SVN for any Songbird dev to make use of for integrating support for Rockbox'd players (or even Rockboxable players, for initial installation.)

have a look at getsatisfaction:
support this idea or post a new one!

(and sorry for digging out this thread)
