iriver h120 wont start, wont charge

(1/1)

barbafant:
Yesterday my iriver died on me. It was plugged in to my comp and also in the charger. I was editing mp3-files on it when suddenly out of nothing it just turned off. It won't turn on again and when connected to charger the charging LED doesn't light up either. I have tried to 'reset' it, both when connected to charger and not. I opened it and checked the batt's connector but it seems ok. I even tried to turn it on when opened so I could reach the button directly, if the 'case-button' had been misaligned or something. I have not dropped it or mishandled it either. This is really weird. Never had a problem like this.
Any suggestions? I suppose one should try to connect it to another battery to see if theres any difference, or maybe that doesn't matter when the charger is connected? Anyway, I don't have a spare battery, so...
Any suggestions are welcome.

LinusN:
Sounds like your power regulators are busted. That requires some tricky soldering to fix.

barbafant:
oh dear :(. And getting a new regulator too, I suppose? I have no soldering skills at all, but when you say 'tricky', does that mean that it's not doable by hand even for a skilled operator? i.e. should I give up :(?

barbafant:
Well, I have searched on misticriver a bit and cant find anyone who has tried to change the power regulator and succeded. So does anyone think it is possible? Has anyone done it?

barbafant:
I have decided to buy a new dap, either iaudio x560 or creative zvm 60. I'm giving up on my h120, prob gonna donate it to rockbox if it's of any use to anyone broken.
