Iriver H300- Question on replacing HDD

I have not been able to get help regarding my previous problem so I was wondering if I put a new hard drive in the player or was able to format the existing drive completely, would the installation of Rockbox make my H300 work?? I am very new at this so please be gentle. I don't normally delve in this field but I do however recycle computers to give to kids without computers.
If you can help, my grandson will be delighted.

Here is the previous problem: Booting up _ Iriver / Rockbox - will try almost anything to get it working again. Next time please include the link. You are asking for help so you should provide all the necessary information.
