Testing a new build

Hi,

I am using a Toshiba F40.

Is there anyway to test a new build on the machine using the Bootloader USB mode?

Also, I would like to work on the control for picture viewer. I got the code and was able to compile the distribution. If make changes to the viewer, can I just copy the .rock file associate with it to my machine?
