Theme Modification - beatMP with Large Album Art (Need Feedback)

(1/2) > >>

Monkeytamer:
Hi all, I'm fairly new to the WPS scene, but I've always been interested in making or modifying one to my liking. I personally like large album art, as that tends to be the first thing that comes to mind when I think of an album, so I decided to take a shot at modifying Deft's beatMP WPS to incorporate album art as large as possible without sacrificing too much track information.

Credit goes to Deft for providing a starting point, and much of the WPS tagging/code is held intact. This WPS is designed to take advantage of the scrolling margins patch, as it looks rather strange without a horizontal limit for the track information. I also had to change the font to Nimbus 12 in order to accommodate the more limited amount of space with respect to the size of the album art.

The album art is currently 208x208, which I have been unable to fix, as I designated a 220x220 space on the bitmap for the album art to display. Anyone who may have some input on how to fix this or what may be causing the problem I would appreciate any assistance, as this is the last real bug I personally have while using the WPS.

Any input or suggestions for changes or alterations are welcome. Thanks!

Edit: Some small modifications on the WPS under the progress bar as well as the positioning of the elapsed time and total track time. I still have yet to be able to resolve the album art issue, but this is the last remaining problem before it is finished. Perhaps the extra 20KB makes a significant difference? Anything above 209x209 will not work.

wow!! Looks really good! I dont have any idea how to but god does that look great!  Props for listening to LP too...

I agree, this theme is lookin' good. Can't think of a solution to what you're describing, but I can offer a suggestion: the backdrop might not be friendly to a black font while in the menu / filebrowser, it might be better if you added a semi-transparent white layer on top of the backdrop to aid the contrast.

Being Offtopic: not such a big fan of LP's new stuff, not as angry as they used to be which was their strongest point. Most new (rock) music is following the trend of becoming more melodic, slow and whiny.

Monkeytamer:
Oh, no worries about the backdrop. You are completely correct about the difficulty with seeing the font with that bluish backdrop, and so I just kept the original beatMP backdrop for the moment. I may decide to change the backdrop, but the current beatMP one suits just fine. I added the blue edging just to emphasize the other elements of the WPS, as I had originally used black, which just didn't look right.

I'll be making a slight modification underneath the progress bar, as that two pixel height of black seems out of place, but it won't look much different overall.

Off Topic: With respect to Linkin Park, I used that album art in particular as I find white album art to be the worst case scenario for the appearance of the WPS, as the black translucent border looks a bit odd with such a light color, while it looks awesome with darker colors.

Hey can you make this theme for the Sansa e260?
