I had tried that - but it kept complaining that no voice was selected :-(.
BrianWolven:
Hmmm, is it an SAPI5 voice? SAPI4 doesn't support the necessary methods. I'm not sure what else would be necessary, as I've only used English personally. We'll have to do some experimentation. Has anyone else (e.g., Joerg) gotten it to work with the German voice?
moilejter:
No - I think that is the problem... The only free Spanish voice that I have been able to find for Windows is a SAPI4 voice produced by L&H and distributed by Microsoft. (I even think the commercial spanish voices, like those in ViaVoice OutLoud) are also SAPI4...).
In the meantime, attached to this message is a little Perl script that I am playing around with. I think it might generate the appropriate voice files for Rockbox - though it relies on a commercial/shareware app for windows called "ATTS" (Advanced Text-To-Speech) from zero2000.com. It can use the SAPI4 Spanish voices on my computer... :-).

I was trying to do the same, using a SAPI4 voice (spanish one) with the new voicebox script, comparing with the makevoices functions, but I haven't had any success until now. I'm using manually-generated .talk files for folder voices. Does anyone know where I can find the documentation for activevoice method? Someone in Rockbox has to have that info if he made the makevoices.vbs...
BrianWolven:
You mean the MS SAPI documentation? Look here:
http://www.microsoft.com/speech/download/old/sapi5.asp
There is a tab on that page that allows you to access all of the SAPI4 resources, too.
