Durable Sansa (?)

(1/1)

Vortex:
Hi everyone,

I already dropped my Sansa twice (well actually one time it was someone else who dropped it) but except for a few scratches on the front cover (luckily not on the display) it's still in good shape. I just wonder why they didn't use the same material for the front cover that they did for the back (except for the display and buttons, of course) because that is super-durable and doesn't show fingerprint as easily.

Anyway, the real thing I was wondering about is this: Everytime I dropped the Sansa it shut itself off. What could be the cause of this and is it possible that the player incurred some non-visible damage?

elborak:
I assume it's due to weight. Isn't the back metal?

dedalus:
It's so there is no seam with the screen protector. Most ipods are the same way. If you look closely and feel with your finger, you can see that the front cover is one solid piece of plastic, the black coloring is only applied outside of the screen area. If they made it metal all the way around there would have to be a seam along the screen protector which might collect dust/dirt/moisture, as it is they have it along the sides which makes better sense anyway considering the ports are there.
