When will this be supported by rockbox? Is there any problems with it. I havnt done it yet because I like my player to be totally supported by the rockbox dev team. I never run patches.

This isn't a patch per se--it is a replacement of the splashscreen bmp image file your player uses.  I have had no issue with this, including even though I took the original Rockbox iRiver H-140 player splashscreen bmp image and substituted, if I recall correctly, a larger-sized image (so as to be able to use the entire screen (the original image using less than that), to post an "if found, please return me" message).

I have a Gigabeat F20.
Awhile back during boot it would display a splashscreen and these splash screens were BMP's and then changed to RAW's using bmp2rb. Eventually the bootsplash image got phased out but I kept my RAW's. Now I learn of this option but my images are still RAW's is there anyway I can convert them back to any readable image format?

I've been trying with Paint Shop Pro 9 but the images come out skewered. There a few options I have to input when loading the RAW's with PSP9 and I think the main problem is the header size in bytes. Does anyone know the header size for Gigabeat RAW bootsplash images?

replace the appropriate bitmap in "apps/bitmaps/native".  Then re-compile the code.  Kind of a hassle if you aren't compiling your own code anyway.  

And yes, it can be bigger, but for me (Sansa e200) it still needs to be about 15px shorter than the actual screen size.  Not sure why.  I took a screenshot and measured it to get my image to be the right size.  It will still work otherwise, but your image will get a few rows of pixels cut off.
