Root Folder

Llorean:
The first answer he was given was also simple and polite. But he did not go to use the manual, and I even used the word "please" when asking him to do so. Is it his fault or mine that he was unwilling to follow the official instructions, and should I be made to support unofficial instructions?

Most people are brought to rockbox via other avenues, like it or not. Another simple answer concerning the manual would of sufficed again. And then there would of been another happy rockbox user. And the effort would of been less than was used.  8-)

The first two answers he was given from Llorean and then me, both said please look at the manual.  He did not.

I suggest you reread the beginning of this thread.

Should this be made sticky?  Maybe if people see a sticky "Root Folder?" post in the forum, they'll stop asking this question over and over.

I think this is rather something that belongs to the FAQ (besides the fact that the manual explains this term).

Llorean:
Sticky posts only help people who actually look for answers to their questions. Anyone who actually tries to look will find many answers to what a root folder is.

I'm not of the opinion that a sticky post makes a post any more useful, only more obvious for people who can't be bothered to follow the rules: All posts exist, all posts can be found using the search function. I don't think it's our obligation to have a page full of stickies just so people don't have to use the search function, as it just makes the real purpose of the forums (discussion and questions) harder to accomplish since the first page of discussion will become more and more cluttered with stickies.
