1) the only official instructions are those in the manual. Please do not ask for help about other peoples' unofficial guides.

2) Try googling "root folder", it's a common computer term.

The fact that you asked that makes it fairly clear you don't know what the root folder is. It's the "lowest" level. It's the 'folder' on a drive that contains every other folder. The root, that the filetree grows from, as it were.

Alright, on the C drive, the root folder is C:\. Is that clear enough?

For heavens sake.

This is why you should search, on Google, for an explanation of what a root folder is.  If you connect your ipod and it appears as H: the root folder is H:\

The root folder of your C drive is C:\

Seriously, if you cannot manage this, I'm not sure a replacement firmware is for you.

Forget the youtube video.  It is unofficial, unsupported, and likely out of date and wrong.

Do you now understand what the root folder is?  Tell us what you think it is.

Once you understand that, follow the instructions in the manual.

Even after that entire headache you unleashed on everyone, you're still unsure about installing Rockbox?!

Mother of Eris, why us? :(
