4th Gen (non-color)
« on: June 28, 2007, 08:42:00 PM »
Read some of the features, still pondering whether or not to try installing Rockbox on my ipod. What can I expect with navigation, will it actually be better than the ipod firmware/software? Are the games worth playing if they aren't in color, and will it be able to play .wma files? Thanks, sorry for the basic question post!

Rockbox does not currently support .wma.  There are games that do not require color; whether those are worth playing is completely up to you.

Thanks for the reply, I was just curious to hear from someone who has modded their 4th Gen and how they've liked it.

You question is way too subjective to be answered.
All I can say is that rockbox runs well on the 4G grayscale ipod (I've had one) so go right ahead and install. If you don't like it after a while revert to the original firmware.

It really isn't worth replying to an old thread whose OP hasn't even been to the forums for over a week...

Though it is interesting to see how quickly my "Rockbox does not currently support .wma" answer became outdated.
