Text/Character Display issue.

(1/1)

I'm not sure if this belongs here, but here goes.

I recently got an album in which some songs have some odd characters in the titles, such as "Maй: Forest", "Sãn Yuè: Mercury", and "Sì Yuè: Clockwork".  These show up fine on my media player and scrobble to my last.fm nicely, but when I play them in rockbox, the characters aren't displayed correctly, and on my last.fm the tracks show up like this:

"Maй: Forest"
"Sãn Yuè: Mercury"
"Sì Yuè: Clockwork"

Is there anything I can do without changing the actual song titles to get rockbox to cooperate with the tags?

Try changing your codepage to unicode. You might need to change your font too. For just Western languages, Nimbus should work (If not try something like unifont). Also, make sure your tags are in unicode.

I'm not very knowledgeable in that area...could you explain further?

OK, let us try something simple first. Does changing your font to something like Nimbus solve your problem?
