Your post is completely incomprehensible, I don't understand at all.

Please explain exactly what you have done, which bit of the manual you have trouble with etc.

If you want realtime help, you should come to the Rockbox IRC channel, not ask someone to go to MSN:

http://www.rockbox.org/irc/cgiirc/irc.cgi

Regardless of WHERE you get help, you are going to need to answer the questions that BigBambi asked you before anyone can help you.

Why does it sound like he's trying to run ipodpatcher by just double clicking it in Windows Explorer, as opposed to actually starting a Command Prompt session like it says in the manual and running it from there?

Febs and BigBambi, doesn't it make it plain as day in the manual and everywhere else that these tools have to be run from the Command Prompt/Terminal/<insert favorite text-based shell here>? I swear, kids these days...

Actually, iPodPatcher works perfectly fine from double clicking so long as it detects your iPod, and the newest directions may even say to do this now (I think someone was going to update them to do that, but I'm not sure if it ever happened).

I didn't know the Windows version worked like that now, actually. My box at home is running Linux, so I've been doing it the text-based shell way.  :)

I also realize that soon Rockbox Utility may make the whole installation method a lot easier for newbies... not to mention the fact of less headaches for us.

I know it's off topic for this thread, but I had an idea to place a sticky for this topic that tells people that help with installation and removal will only be given here on the forums or on IRC.

I've actually noticed questions like this on the installation/removal topics, and the OPs always just post once, ask crap like this, and are never heard from again.

Febs, Llorean... sound like a plan?

Just as a note, I hate stickies. This forum already has one more than what I deem the appropriate number, I'd have 0 if I thought I could get away with leaving out the "Posting in this forum" posts, and I'd really like the other sticky to be moved to the wiki, perhaps the iPod FAQ page.

Sorry, but I hate stickies about as much as Llorean.  My experience as a moderator at Mistic River for a number of years is that they don't work.  The people who need to read them, don't.

I don't blame you guys for hating stickies. They do seem to be about as effective as getting the cat to listen.

If people aren't going to read the posting guidlines when they sign up, the posting guidlines in the announcements forum, the posting in this forum sticky in each forum, the manual, .... I don't think they'll read another sticky.
