Segmentation fault with the Simulator under VMware
dip:
I created the simulator for iPod Video with 64MB using the latest svn sources using the VMware images from the wiki. It compiles without problems but when I run the simulator and try to play a song I get a the message "Segmentation fault (SDL Parachute Deployed)". It happens both when I browse the filetree as well when I use the database.
Any ideas what could be wrong?
dip:
I forgot to mention that a normal build works without problems on my iPod 5.5 80GB, only the simulator crashes.
Bagder:
It sounds like a bug. Start debugging it or check if there's an existing bug report filed for it and if it isn't provide lots of info on how to repeat it in a new one.
dip:
I tested it in cygwin and there the simulator works fine. So the problem only arises when I use VMware to compile the simulator. Before filing a bug report I just want to be sure that it is not a problem of my VMware installation. So if anyone can confirm the bug when using VMware this would be good.
The crash simply occurs when you select a song to play either through the filetree or through the database. The above error message is shown on the console window and the simulator gui is frozen.
GodEater:
Does it matter what codec the song is encoded with, or does it happen with any file format ?
