Go/Baduk/Weiqi/Igo game recorder/viewer

(1/1)

kadoban:
I'm in the process of coding a game recorder for Go, which will be able to create and read SGF files (see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Go_%28board_game%29), and I'm curious if anyone else would be interested in such a thing.

The reason I'm asking is that it will need cleanup work and extra time to get it ready for inclusion with rockbox, and if nobody else cares then I won't bother.

On a related note, is there some documentation on the process of getting plugins included into rockbox?  Is it just create a patch for it, then hope some developer takes notice and includes it or is there something more?  If a plugin would only be of interest to a few rockbox users is there even any hope of ever getting it included?

I'm interested. Maybe we can even combine it with gnugo?

Create a patch and upload it to the patch tracker, then nag the devs in IRC to take a look at it :) The usefulness of a plugin is usually not a very important criterion :) More important is that it runs well on as much targets as possible.

Oh good :)

My original intention was actually to port gnugo eventually, but from the looks of it gnugo has some pretty big memory usage requirements.  It might not be an insurmountable problem, but it would probably take a lot of investigation/work.  I was hoping that someone had ported gnugo to a mobile device of some sort and had run into the same problems, but I didn't find anything on a quick google.

I'll definitely check into it more though.

Haha, that's also good.  It should work pretty well on just about anything, the only part I haven't looked at much is which keys are going to work well on which platforms, but that shouldn't be too difficult.

Thanks for the interest, I'll keep you informed.

kadoban:
An alpha version of this plugin is now in the tracker, here: http://www.rockbox.org/tracker/task/7369

It's probably only usable on the e200, but others are welcome to try.  THIS IS NOT A FINISHED VERSION, USE AT YOUR OWN RISK.

kadoban:
An updated version of the patch is in the tracker which primarily provides support for other players.  The plugin should now theoretically work on every target except any of the archos.
