Updated Marquee WPS: Marquee Nouveau, with graphical control panel (iRiver H1xx)
(1/1)
Mikerman:
To the extent of interest, I have posted an updated version of the Marquee WPS, Marquee Nouveau, for the iRiver H1xx players.

Apart from some helpful default information handling tweaks, the principal difference is the use of a graphical control panel rather than the default Rockbox status bar. Try it; I think you'll like it--
As with the Marquee WPS, Marquee Nouveau displays a great deal of information, in both the WPS and the RWPS (included as well, and containing the vast majority--but not all--of the information shown in the WPS), but without crowding and in a relatively larger font, Nimbus-12. The control panel includes an indicator for crossfaded playback.

Really nice work...
If this was ported to all targets it would be a good contender for the 'default theme contest', I think.
Mikerman:
Thanks. The volume indicator still seems a bit off to me when you get to the loud end, but in the end, there is a limitation with the amount of space available. (I now understand why a growing triangular shape often is used for volume.) I also wanted it to switch back and forth between the graphic and a numerical value for volume, but the location of the graphic doesn't allow that due to the spacing for the font.
I enjoy the battery indicator (and it was fun figuring this out, as a mental exercise), as it does what the default status bar battery indicator does: when charging, it shows the current level and then "grows" to the full battery image, to indicate the charging state. It also reverses that at the low end: it shows the low battery level, and then flashes (calmly) to an empty battery picture, to remind one to recharge.

The theme looks great but I can't seem to download it properly from the site, can you upload it to the wps gallery too?
The filesize I get is 16KB and both winzip and WinXP complain that the archive is corrupt.
Mikerman:
Done, and sorry for not having done so earlier--I was having password issues (my problem).
