2 problems
« on: June 23, 2007, 01:51:14 PM »
i searched the forums, but i couldn't find anything really -- forgive me if there actually IS a topic for these problems.

i've been wondering if it's possible to boot up with the original firmware on the sansa e200 series by default? so, instead of turning it on and holding the left button to boot up with the original firmware -- can i just boot the mp3 player up with the original firmware and only have to hold the left button if i wanna boot into rockbox? if so, that'd be great.

second of all, i've been wondering why my system clock isn't working. it doesn't even work in the original firmware. i can set the time and date -- but i'll leave it for a while and notice that it just stays the same time and date no matter what? what can i do to fix this?

much thanks

1) No, not unless you change the source and compile your own bootloader.

2) Sounds like a hardware fault on your player if it occurs in both RB and the OF

I don't know I'm afraid.  You could try going on IRC and seeing if there is anyone there with more Sansa hardware knowledge than me.

Well, I ended up emailing Sandisk and asking about it. I really hope it doesn't require an RMA or something drastic like that.

Oh BTW, is there anyway I can request someone to make a bootloader to load the original firmware by default?

Not really, no.  Someone might see this and do it for you I suppose.  It needs someone to both know where to change the code and how to compile.  Compiling is easy (see one of the many guides on this site), but be careful with bootloaders.  However, I think for this change it is just ( ;)) the case of swapping an if.

If you want to know how to do it and what the dangers might be, try asking on IRC (devs hang out on there more), but most dev's won't want to start making unofficial bootloaders for you, they have better things to do.

Also, I know there are still a few issues to be worked out on Sansa, but RB is a replacemement firware so most people (especially dev's) think RB should be the default.

If I remember correctly, someone has posted such a bootloader on the Anything but iPod forums some time ago:http://www.anythingbutipod.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=72

EDIT: found it: http://e200.digerati1338.googlepages.com/reversebl
