Hopefully you have a backup of your music on your computer.

yes, i have a working cradle and charger. dude you're the best!
well, i don't have a backup of my music but i have most of it on 2 of my harddrives... and whats funny is on the day i did this whole thing to my mp3 player, i was in winamp and i saved my artist/tracklisting to html format so i think i should be able to find the rest and if i don't, i can just find new music to add to it! :P
i really appreciate everyone here willing to help a stranger out.. you guys are the nicest people i've come across on the internet.

My son just came back from camp with the same error message. So after reading all your posts, I guess I need to first of all replace the battery?
Also the person who had a couple of F10s laying around, I would be interested.
Thanks
Tlmang

try the recovery procedure first... follow it carefully...

its supposed to work most of the time.. it didn't work for me because i basically destroyed mine by trying to charge my gigabeat with a portable dvd player charger.

HawkSlayer,
Got an F10 pretty much ready to go for you. As you said you've attempted the recovery procedure, I'm assuming you are reasonably comfortable disassembling/assembling a Gigabeat, right? My plan is to send you only the basic frame & circuit board, display, cross, battery, & HDD. So you'd have to provide the top / bottom / left /right plastic pieces from your dead F10 plus the front & back (including the tiny screws).
Is that okay?
Dave
