Welcome to the Rockbox Technical Forums!
Well if you keep this the dumbest thing you'll ever do, you'll end up with a fairly decent life. Seriously, people do make mistakes. You're far from the only person who's plugged the wrong adapter in, hoping or assuming it will work.Fortunately, relative to iPods and other "popular" players, the Gigabeat F series are relatively cheap. They're still not in the "chicken sandwich" price range, but it ought to be replaceable if all else ends up failing.
HawkSlayer,I have a few "cosmetically challenged" F10's lying around. So long as you don't care if it's got some scratches/dents/etc., I'd be happy to send you one free (you pay shipping, probably $5 or so if you're in the continental US).Let me know.
Could be bad news. Spin-click cycles often mean a dead HDD.
You still have a working cradle & charger, right? I'll send you a replacement F10 including HDD. It may be a cosmetic horror, but it'll work. And if you replace the plastic with the pieces from your dead one, you should be as good as new.Hopefully you have a backup of your music on your computer.
i really appreciate everyone here willing to help a stranger out.. you guys are the nicest people i've come across on the internet.
My son just came back from camp with the same error message. So after reading all your posts, I guess I need to first of all replace the battery? Also the person who had a couple of F10s laying around, I would be interested. ThanksTlmang
