rockboy slow on ipod 5.5 80G

It only runs at about 60% speed with frameskip 3, and this makes it pretty unusable. Is this normal?

Note: On IPL iboy runs at full speed, though with some compatibility problems (with Prince of Persia).

Rockboy's performance is less than stellar on the PortalPlayer targets (iPod, iriver H10, and Sansa). There hasn't been a lot of work on Rockboy by the developers because they're prioritizing on other parts of Rockbox that need more work done.

As I explained in an earlier post, the speed you get depends on what you play as well. An early Game Boy game (i.e. Alleyway, Tetris) will give you fairly good performance; whereas a Game Boy Color Game (i.e. any of them) will run slower than Slowpoke Rodriguez (the slowest mouse in all Mexico  :)).

If you're good at C and assembly programming, you can download the source for Rockbox and maybe help optimize the plugin.

thanks for your reply, unfortunately i don't know programming... anyway, another question came into my mind: is it possible to use rockboy on IPL, (because prince of persia looked much better on rockboy than on iboy)?

For iPodLinux questions, please ask at iPodLinux.  These are Rockbox forums.

To answer your question, IPL and Rockbox are entirely different, so rockboy cannot be run on IPL (unless you fancy porting the code).
