Don't see Gigabeat in 'My Computer' after installing RBX
tman:
I installed Rockbox last night (after some annoyance before I figured out that the player (F40)has to be connected to the computer via the Room option to see the hidden files - I guess that's one for the 'feedback' section), but it won't play any songs. I figured this is because of the .SAT encryption, so I went to re-transfer my music to the player but after connecting it to the computer via the USB cable on the cradle the player doesn't show up in "My Computer". (The player shows the USB connector on the screen, but I don't see the player on the computer).
What gives? Any help appreciated! ???
[hote: I have Windows XP on a Dell laptop]

Does it make any difference if you don't use the Cradle, and just connect straight to the USB port on the Gigabeat ?

I didn't try that - I'll try it tonight. I'd like to be able to use the cradle - can you NOT use it with Rockbox?
GodEater:
Do you know - I have no idea - I've never tried! Never even unpacked it. Of course I don't run windows XP either so it wouldn't be much use to you even if I did unpack it.
I suspect markun will know though - if he reads the forums tonight you might get a useful answer.

I use my cradle with my Gigabeat. It works fine. It's nice because I can charge it and listen to music on my home stereo system via the line-out. Also you can connect and disconnect the USB by just sliding the USB switch on the base.
I had no problems like this, so I don't really know what to suggest other than rebooting both machines. Good luck!
