Boot Loader Can't Find iPod
NeoDestiny:
I've downloaded the current build and extracted the .zip file into my iPod's root folder as .rockbox, and now I've downloaded the bootloader onto my computer. When I open the bootloader, it says "[ERR] No ipods found, aborting".
My iPod is in disk mode (I did the hold down seven buttons for 3 minutes and toggle hold switch etc..etc...) and my computer can very plainly see the iPod (I can look at files on it, I see a USB device attached on my computer) but for some reason the bootloader won't recognize it?
My OS is Windows ME.
Thank you for the help!
Llorean:
Ipodpatcher is not the bootloader. It is the program that installs the bootloader.
It only works on Windows 2000/XP/Vista and possibly NT, I believe (and the other non-windows OSes that are listed, of course).
NeoDestiny:
Well, it opens with my computer, it just can't find the iPod...
But if that's the case, am I just "out of luck" when it comes to installing rockbox?
Llorean:
You could use a Linux LiveCD to run the Linux version of the installer.
betamaxman:
Does itunes see your ipod?
Remember ipodpatcher needs ipod apple firmware to find the ipod.
Without the firmware it is just a glorified usb hard drive. 8-)
