80GB iPod dead?

<< < (2/3) > >>

betamaxman:
In explorer (my computer), what drive letter is your ipod assigned? If it is a lower letter such as D or E there can be issues with itunes not seeing it or seeing it and not being able to do anything with it. For instance windows is on my E drive and it assigned C to my ipod. Not only did itunes not recogmize it but my pc completly froze. Eventualy when it woke up and I was able to close itunes,  I assigned Z as the ipod drive letter and as soon as I clossed explorer itunes fired up and recognizes my ipod. So see what it is and change it to a higher letter like H or S or something.  8-)

I only have problems turning on the device itself. After it starts up the connection between ipod and computer works fine. It is assigned as F:\

I have the same problem, my ipod (80gb) doesn´t switch on anymore.

thomasowa:
what worked for me was to first reset it with the menu-select and then press select-play to enter the Disk mode. See if that gets you anywhere.

why what would happen if you used a wall recharger?
