where do i get mpeg?

i've been looking on the internet for a while to try and find a place where i can get mpeg video. i need it so i can play videos on my  ipod nano. if you have a link of where to go i would be greatful. the mpeg website doesnt have a downloader. also, if theres a converter i could get to change it to mpeg that woud work to.

ok, i've been there. what am i looking for? i have mpeg thing on ipod but i need the thing to make my files mpeg2 or 1
