iPod Video Battery Drain?
« on: June 19, 2007, 07:46:32 PM »
Hello!

I have been using Rockbox on my iPod Video 80GB for a few days and while it's excellent it has been draining my battery fast. I figured that was just due to doing things in software as opposed to hardware, but I still found the rate to be mystifying.

I recently turned it off (using (really) Long Play) when power was around 64% and when I turned it back on a few hours later it signalled that it had no battery at all and shut itself down. Is it still draining power (at an alarming rate, I might add) while it's "turned off" the Rockbox way? Anyone with similar problems? This would explain why I've only got a few hours total worth of playing time.

Thank you!

Please search our forums before posting, as per the guidelines. Both of these issues are discussed rather in depth elsewhere.

are you actually sure the battery is dead, because i have a 5G 30gb iPod, and when i try and turn it on after turning it off in rockbox with the long play press, i also see a quick flicker of the low battery sign.  but then if i restart it (Menu+Select) it comes on fine then so...
