Themes for ipod 30 gigs (5g)
« on: June 19, 2007, 12:29:12 PM »
Hi, I'm new to rockbox, I'm using it with my iPod 5g 30 gigs and I have a few questions about that great firmware. I'm using EvilG's Fusion build but none of the themes supposed to show album arts do it. I also have specific problems with themes :
-jBlackGlass : The next song text isn't shown, it's "flickering"
-Escape Pod AA : The progress bar isn't where it's supposed to be.
I hope you will understand me and help me finding how to make things work.

Can't help you with the Album Art problem (though I suspect you've probably not read how to use it properly).

Have you downloaded and installed the rockbox fonts package (this might explain why things are in the wrong places in your themes) ?

I didn't find anything in the manual about themes with Album Arts and I downloaded fonts.
Edit : I didn't know the embedded album arts form tags didn't work, so that was the problem.

Album art is not part of any official build -- that's why it isn't described in the manual.  There is an AlbumArt page in the wiki that explains proper usage.

The flickering sounds like a bug in the WPS code.

... or a conflict with incorrect font and WPS images.

the thing you were saying about text flickering in jBlackglass is a bug in the original wps.  i had the same problem, as well as the progress bar not showing.  EvilG has been doing bugfixes on themes and you can get the fixed jBlackglass theme from here: http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=0eb8b8b7b2ca410d297a0211fc2927a579135126d265f324
just so you know about album art, the picture has to be a bitmap, and the highest resolution most themes use is 100x100, like the jBlackglass theme. then just name it cover.bmp in the folder with the songs nad it should show up kk

Thanks, jBlackglass works fine now. I read in the escape pod aa theme's description that a patched build supporting scrolling margins patch is required. Do I have to install something else than EvilG's fusion build ? Maybe that's why the progress bar is moved...

You either need to patch your own build with the patches you want, or use one that includes them.  Either way, this is not the appropriate forum for discussing unsupported builds.
