MPEGPLAYER / Video playback on 5.5g 80gb

Well what do you know, maybe i am a little bit stupid but i was sure that rockbox supports MP4 videos, or it does not? but anyways in plugins i couldnt find suck plugin as MPEGPLAYER, and when i try to browse MP4 file converted for ipod format, i get annoying sound and it starts randomly play of different music. Any tips? Sorry if i double posted or posted in a wrong forum, but i realy tryed to search for the answer an couldn't find any, manual doesnt say or i missed it that it doesn't support mp4. OK just read the manual again, it doesnt =) well than further question is MPEGplayer gona play videos of MP4 type if om just gona change the extention?

PS. Also i would like to ask is there any possibility to make playlists of my itunes so rockbox would play mp3 from ipod directorys, i had organized already dooesns of playlists in i tunes, and it will be  real pain in the ass to reorganize them by folders, so is there any possibility to rip of the playlists? or make rockbox see the itunes playlists that are on ipod?

Where did you read that Rockbox plays MP4 encoded videos with the Mpegplayer plugin? It's listed on its wiki page (http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/PluginMpegplayer) that it's still work in progress, and that only MPEG1 and MPEG2 videos work. I don't know when it'll support MP4 encoded videos, and no one's going to jump through a firey hoop to make it happen.

There's also frankly just no good reason to do it right now. MPEG2 takes less CPU to decode, and the advancements in MPEG4 don't really mean much on such a small screen.

I have essentially the same issue with the inability to play a movie even though I can plainly see it's in there.  I've used the "open with" option and my H300 freezes, giving me an error message in the upper left hand corner.

Can anyone help?

How did you convert your movies? What settings? Can you upload a sample file?

What are you trying to open the movie with?  That's not the way to view a movie in Rockbox.  Just navigate to the movie and press the Navi button.

There is a known problem with mpegplayer on the H300 at the moment.  See this thread:
