hub138:
werd, so ive read most of the posts i can find about recognition, and nothign is really working for me..
im having issues when i plug in, i can charge, but i have no usb recognition,
after removing the unknown usb profile, then restarting [both the comp and the pod] i boot the pod into the appleOS, i then get a recognition for the device as an ipod, but still it wont show up in explorer, or my winamp media dashboard
help anyone?

Hey Guys, I have a 30 gig 5th gen iPod. I just installed rockbox and i was fooling around with it. Loading new themes and what not. All was well until i loaded the EvilG's Fusion build. http://evilg.cleansoap.org/ . So i loaded the theme and I was having a fun time until i tried to plug the iPod back in, then windows gave me an error that said "USB Device Not Recognized". So now im totally screwed because it's not in explorer or anything. In device manager it is labeled "Unknown Device" I've tried a few tutorials like rebooting, rebooting the ipod, turning off the ipod, uninstalling the device. Please god someone help me because I'm now down one ipod video :(
Thanks guys!
GodEater:
1) Unsupported build questions really belong in the Unsupported builds forum
however
2) Rockbox has no USB code in it on the iPod at the moment - it only detects the presence of the USB cable, and then puts the iPod into disk mode, which is a feature of Apple's firmware not Rockbox's. So if your computer is failing to see the iPod in either disk mode, or the original Apple firmware - it's not a rockbox issue at all.

JBuild's a custom build isn't it? Try a current/unpatched build and see if that helps.

Usually rockbox lets the Ipod boot into diskmode when usb is plugged in - if you want to continue to use it as a music player, you have to hold a button. Some of the unsupported builds use a patch that reverses this order, i.e. plugging usb without holding a button lets you continue listening to your music and for diskmode you have to hold some button*.
I guess this is your problem, but those questions should be asked in the corresponding unsupported builds forum. That would not only be playing by the rules but it's also more likely that you can find someone with the right knowledge there. ;)
Note: *) for example I don't have an Ipod at all...
Edit: Forcing your Ipod into diskmode should always work (in case it's not the above) - you'll find quite a few "howtos" if you search around in the forums a bit.
