80 gig iMod question

I have the 80 gig iMod and want to know if the Rockbox software only allows eq through the headphone jack only.  The iMod hardware alterations on the 80 gig are through the dock port only, which means you have to use an amp.  I hate the iPod eq's and would love to use the Rockbox software.

Yes, they're the same output, the only difference is the impedance.

I've tried the Rockbox and when I use the dock port through a portable amp and change the eq settings, nothing happens.  When I plug into the headphone out, it works fine, but I'm not getting the altered iMod improved sound.
