i've only put rockbox onto my 5G 30gb ipod recently, so i'm totally new to this.
i'm trying to put themes on it, but i don't understand how to put the patches on, like for showing album art in a theme. anyone explain this for me??

You need to download and install a program that will allow you to compil rockbox from the source such as Cygwin or VMware. You will also need to download the patches from the tracker (i assume you have already done that). See:

You most likely want to download a compiled Version of Rockbox that already contains these patches, though.

yeah, having it all compiled with most of the needed and common patches would help.  i'm trying to to compile it but nothing seems to be working right for me...

i've just gone and applied this EvilG Fusion Build found here http://forums.rockbox.org/index.php?topic=8740.0
is there anything else i'm supposed to do once i've put it into the root of my ipod, because when i go into rockbox now, certain things don't show, like some new settings that have been put into it. also, no matter what theme i pick, the icons in menus never seem to change...
this just does not seem to be working out for me lol

Your settings will change everytime you replace your .rockbox folder in the root of your ipod (every time you update) unless you copy and paste your config.cfg file into your new .rockbox folder. config.cfg is all of your current settings and is contained in your .rockbox folder. Your icons are probably not changing because the themes you are applying do not have a specific iconset with them. What you need to do is download a theme with icons or configure the .cfg file to use the iconset you want.
