Ipod with Ubuntu

Loaded my Rockbox on to my Ipod on a different distro. Now using Ubuntu. Ubuntu won't let me drag files to the ipod... but I guess seems to think I'm using Itunes... and therefore can't do anything.

Whassup? Do I need to reload the Ipod with Rockbox in order for it to work on the Ubuntu distro? Tried some different mount options... but I'm shooting in the dark. Appreciate any ideas. Thanks!

You need to be root.  If you can using apt install konqueror (kde's file manager), you could launch konqueror as root by launching it in a terminal with the command "sudo konqueror" then navagate to your ipod. Unfortunately natalist will not launch this way, at least not since I last used gnome. Could also be that your permissions are wrong, try as root  "chmod -R 777".  Add the ipod at the last of the command like so. If the ipod is shown as sdc1 then use this "sudo chmod -R 777 /sdc1" .  8-)

I have no problem launching nautilus with sudo in Ubuntu. But then I also have no problem accessing my iPod without being root. Ubuntu automatically mounts it, and as well puts an icon on my desktop named simply "IPOD". I'm not sure what his problem is, but it isn't "He needs to launch a file manager as root"

If his permissions are wrong he will.  And as I said "at least not since I last used gnome" , Not my favorite desktop, haven't used it in a bit. Anywau chmod should fix the permissions. 8-)

If his permissions are wrong, he should (hopefully) know that he's changed them from the default. ;)

If he's not the one who's changed them, then he's probably not got root access.

That being said, they are something he should check on.
