problem with adding mp3s
« on: June 14, 2007, 07:06:08 PM »
Hi, i'm new to rockbox and i have a small problem. I know that rockbox is drag'n'drop, but nothing happen when i drag files on my iPod (5g). I have tried putting files directly to root folder and to .rockbox folder- no difference- after booting there is no music (yes, i did update database). Can someone tell me exactly where should i put music on? Thanks.

You don't put music files in the .rockbox folder as that folder is generally for Rockbox system internal files. You should just put your music in the root folder (or a sub-folder like /music or something).

Where are you looking for your music after you drag it on to your player? Have you tried looking through the Files menu?

What format are the files you are transferring?

i'm putting mp3 files. I have tried looking for them by file menu, but they are not there. When i connect ipod bact to usb files are gone. The same thing is with wallpapers (320x240)- should they be jpg or bmp? I have tried both- it dosn't even show bmp files. I do see jpg but there is no option "set as wallpaper" or something after pressing select buttont for longer.

How are you removing your player? Do you tell your operating system to eject it before you unplug it?
