I need help with ipod nano 1st generation 2gig im using mac OS 10.4

i am using a mac OS 10.4 i have an iPod nano first generation 2gigs

yes i read the manual i used the bootloader and when i eject my ipod i get a black screen with the following text:

You installed the bootloader, but not rockbox.  Follow the instructions on the screen to boot into disk mode, then resume the install process where you left off.

how do i extract with a mac i know how with windows but i dont have one so i cant get the .rockbox/    file

Try search.  I know its been explained before.  I think you can change that thing in MacOS or something.

You have to enable the hidden file view in the Finder... although I don't remember how to do it off the top of my head; but the Apple Help files should be able to guide you.

(Side note: nothing shows up in the archive because in Unix, adding a . to the beginning of a file or folder name is a flag to "hide" that file or folder. Remember that Mac OS X is Unix-based, so that's why it does that.)

Where do i copy/paste my downloaded rockbox files. My ipod icon is on my desktop do i copy and paste in there if so where

The folder goes into the iPod's root folder, which is the top-level folder.

To put it as simple as possible: open the archive (make sure you enabled hidden file view!), double-click on the iPod in the Finder, and just drag the folder right in from the archive program onto the iPod.
