Slight display glitch on E280
« on: May 01, 2007, 11:31:01 PM »
Hello,
I have installed Rockbox on my Sansa E280
It's great. Thanks.

I notice a slight display error...
The first line (or few lines) on the screen (across the top) are stuffed. It looks like there is a blank black line and then a line of dots. To give you some idea, when I view the time on the main (home) RB page the screen is cut off down to the top dot on the : in the time.

Does any one else have this issue? I note the the Sansa OS also displays this glitch now that I have RB installed. If I uninstall rockbox the display returns to normal in the Sansa OS.

I'd love to know how to sort it out as it makes the top of the screen hard to read.

With thanks,

Jonathan

This is a known issue but has not been solved yet, as it only affects some hardware revisions and none of the developers who are working in this area have that hardware.

I get this too, a line of 2/3 green dots and 1/3 purple

Will it be fixed in future?

I was scared i'd borked my screen for a while there.

If someone figures out what causes it.

I have this problem on my E260 and I am ready to be a quinea pig for testing fixes or any suggestions. I can compile rockbox myself, so just give me direction and I will try to patch, test and tell you results.

If I understand it well, either rockbox bootloader puts garbage into some lcd framebuffer area, or lcd itself gets initialized in somewhat wrong way.

rockbox for sansa E200 series still need more refinement, the developers can't work on several things at a time,I'm happy even if it shows rows with weird pixels.

I gather (as of June 12th) this is still a known unresolved issue then?

Cax offered to run tests on possible fixes. Is that any help?
Is there anything else those of us with this issue can do to assist the resolution of it?

Thanks,

Jonathan
