rockbox scrolls to slowly
« on: June 11, 2007, 08:55:01 AM »
Hi, well, first: congratulations to your open source firmware for the 80gb ipod !!

Anyway, i have a small problem with my rockbox firmware.
(i've refreshed it with a daily build yesterday, but the problem was the same before)

When i scroll through the database/filelist/settings, rockbox scrolls too slowly :( what could it be/what could i do? (Ipod 5.5g 80).

Maybe it depends on some themes? Maybe... but i don't think so, its scrolling to slow even with default theme.

Even if the HDD is currently working or no, it's no difference.

EDIT: I've noticed that an alternative thread exists ... but i dont know how to patch.i tried that using the "How top patch" manual.. i've been told that you need advanced c skills to patch sth. like themes that doesn't show up things like AA etc. ... everything what i need is a rockbox version with integrated patches

could anyone help me?

greetings from germany,

Immortal

Try adjusting the "List Acceleration Start Delay" and "List Acceleration Speed" settings.  You can find these under General Settings --> Display --> Scrolling.

I don't understand the question.  Playing a song will cause Rockbox to that song into the buffer, as well as any songs that follow it in the playlist or directory that you are playing, up to the limit of RAM.

As far as the expected behavior of the "Load to RAM" setting, since you do not describe what behavior you encountered or what behavior you expect, it is difficult to respond to your post.  Regardless, that setting has nothing to do with loading full tracks to RAM.  You can find a description of what it does do here:  http://download.rockbox.org/manual/rockbox-ipodvideo/rockbox-buildch4.html#x7-410004.2.3

If you're expecting it to load the entire contents of your iPod into RAM, you're going to be sadly disappointed - since you can have up to 80GB of music, but there's only 64MB of RAM.

Hi,

I don't have a HDD player, but maybe increasing the "Anti Skip Buffer" helps. You can find this option at "Settings" -> "General Settings" -> "Playback" "Anti-Skip Buffer". Try setting it to the maximum value and see if it makes any difference.

And while scrolling make sure that your hand does not leave the touchpad, then the acceleration should work.

sorry, I do not come from a English-language country, thus I apologize, if my post was confusing to you. My problem is: The scroll speed is anyway too slow. i dont know, if this depends on the list acceleration settings, (or the scroll settings) or on sth. else.... i thought it was because of the HDD drive.

could you send me an optimized saved settings config (.cfg) file for rockbox build for 80gb 5.5 which i can load to my settings? maybe i made something wrong.

greetings from germany
